Here we are using a student's can crusher in our classroom:
We've also been reading various books about Earth Day related topics.
As we read, we took notes on ways we can help the earth and convince others to do the same.
Then it was time to write a 3 paragraph Earth Day report. Before they could be published, we worked with a partner to peer edit our work.
We also created tear-art earths for the project.
We also took some time to admire each other's work.
We made another earth-related art project that's on display in the hallway--puffy painted earths. We used shaving cream, Elmer's glue, and food coloring to make them.
Special thanks to Mrs. Svaty for her help with this project!
This year's Theme Day was all about Earth Day. Here is our class enjoying the gigantic Earth balloon.
On a Earth Day (April 22) we did nothing but earth-related learning. Here we are completing math puzzles with partners.
Then we colored Earth Day hats to wear.
That afternoon we headed downtown to chalk up the sidewalk outside of our local businesses to get people to think about ways they too can help our planet.
After chalking, we enjoyed an afternoon treat Mrs. Kasper made--Earth cupcakes. Yum!
