To begin the unit, we completed the K (knowledge) and W (want to learn) sections of our money KWL charts.
We've watched various movies about money and economics.
Then, the week before spring break we walked downtown to Citizen's State Bank to learn more about money and banking.
We got to see how coins are counted and put into rolls.
Then we learned about interest rates.
Next, we were allowed into the vault to see where money is kept.
We learned about some old currency bills.
Then we headed back to the checking department. We learned the importance of good handwriting when writing checks.
Our final stop in the bank was the investment office. We learned how investing your money can be a good choice.
A special thanks to Citizen's State Bank and one of our mothers (a teller) who gave us an amazing tour!
