Categories Art Party

During our categories art party we celebrated by enjoying an ice cream treat before engaging in the artistic fun!

Here we are making puffy snowflakes to hang from the classroom ceiling. For this activity we used 1 inch by 1 inch pieces of white tissue paper, an eraser-less pencil and Elmer's glue. After both sides were covered with tissue paper Mrs. Kasper sprayed them with spray adhesive glue and shook silver glitter on them. They looked great hanging from the ceiling during the month of January!

Another activity we did was Borax snowflakes. These were fun to make! First, we had to shape our unique snowflake using white pipe cleaners. Then a string was attached to the snowflake. In the meantime, we were heating water in the microwave...

After the water was heated, we each added 1/3 cup of Borax to the jar.

Then we submerged the snowflake into the jar and let it set over the weekend. When we returned to school on Monday we each had a crystal snowflake to take home!

Once those projects were completed, we were allowed to play in the snow (shaving cream) on the back table.

Our next categories party will be a movie and popcorn party! We're looking forward to it.... :)
