From Caterpillar to Butterfly...

A couple weeks ago we received a caterpillar from one of Mrs. Kasper's former students. We were already studying the life cycle of a butterfly so it was great to actually have a real live caterpillar in the classroom!

Here, we are making a butterfly life cycle wheel.

We also listened to a butterfly lifecycle song while coloring.
(You'll have to push play when you reach the website)

Look! Our caterpillar that we named Mr. Wiggles formed his chrysalis!

We teamed up with classmates to work through a classroom butterfly scavenger hunt. We searched high and low for butterfly facts in the room! This activity was so much fun, and we learned all kinds of facts about the life cycle of a butterfly. --So many facts that the next day we wrote a butterfly report as a class!

Hooray for fact-ful scavenger hunt fun! :o)

Look what happened over the weekend! Our butterfly emerged from his chrysalis! After we finished our morning work, we took him to the playground to set him free!

Only... he didn't want to come out ...

So Mrs. Kasper helped a little ...

What a beautiful butterfly!

Finally, he flew off towards the soccer field...

This is a great record of your hard work. The students all look like they loved this!
