Theme Day is all about Learning Healthy Habits!

Each year, our school participates in a "theme day" that is organized by a group of teachers. The theme is slightly different from year to year. Today (April 29th) we spent the day out of our classrooms learning about ways to keep ourselves healthy!

First thing this morning, we learned some fundamentals of basketball...

Then, we learned about how our body breaks down when too many unhealthy foods are put into our system...

This group hug symbolized the effects of an organ covered with fat...

Tasting a healthy alternative to traditional potato chips...

Tasting fresh fruits & vegetables...

The aerobics and dance rotation...

Next, it was time to listen to what Mrs. Rathbun (one of our county 4H extension agents) had to say about eating healthy and portion sizes...

Here, we are showing how many chips we usually eat for a typical snack...

Then, she explained the importance of the nutrition label on the back...

Then, we had the chance to take a look for ourselves...

Finally, we created a portion-proper trail mix snack...

After lunch, we headed back outside for the fitness walk.

Making stops along the way to do specific exercises. These are the mountain climbers...

50 jumping jacks!

Our class resting during the fitness walk...

Then, we each made our way through the obstacle course.

Finally, we walked to the high school to see this awesome magician perform some healthy magic tricks for us...

A student from our class got to go up on stage! Here, she is practicing her Royal wave.

Using the magic fingers...

...and POOF! He made the chair disappear! She's floating in the air.

And finally, he ended his incredible show (and our fun-filled day) with snowfall!

Theme day was LOTS of fun!
