During the month of December we engaged in a fun mystery gift writing assignment. First, we each picked an item from home and brought it to school in a brown paper bag so no one (but Mrs. Kasper) could see what we brought. Then, we put the bag in a prewrapped shoe box, tied it up with ribbon and put it under the Christmas, (er, in our classroom--the palm) tree. Next, we had to think of creative ways to describe (without giving it away) what was inside our box! That was the fun writing part of the assignment. Finally, a couple of days before Christmas break we read our stories to our classmates and they had to guess what was inside the box!
Here, we're pictured with our mysterious gifts all wrapped up!
A picture of a unique hot air balloon!
Opening it up!
Reading aloud...
A wrestling trophy--COOL!
Chopsticks!
Humm....what's inside?!??
Reading all those clues using GREAT adjectives!
It's a teacher's bookmark!
The suspense...
Can we guess what's inside the box?
It's birthday candles!
We had to listen to all the clues VERY carefully...
Cake decorations!
Once all the gifts were opened up, we each took our items back home. This writing project was lots of fun!
